What a burger at Classic Burger Joint – Trade Center

Tired of the usual lunch break, together with some colleagues, we decided to escape the usual routine in Oud Metha and try something new. A colleague of mine proposed to drive to Trade Center area to Classic Burger Joint, “one of the best burger restaurant ever” he added trying to convince me.

I was told that the restaurant is incredibly popular in Lebanon, where the restaurant was firstly opened. Yes, you got it right, it isn’t the usual chain from the States by a pure Lebanese burger chain.  I was curious to understand more about this Lebanese burger tradition that was totally unknown to me, hence we jumped in the car and drove to Aspin Commercial Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, Trade Center Area, Dubai.

Keep in mind that Trade Center is very busy and it can be challenging to find parking just in front of the restaurant. We were lucky and found parking quite close to the place.

The restaurant is quite small and the waitress very friendly. Loving cheese on all forms, I went for a Mozzarella Classic Burger that consisted in a classic burger to which a thick layer of fried mozzarella is added on top of the beef patty. The burger arrived after 10 minutes as promised by the waitress together with a lot of french fries and a small portion of  coleslaw.

Loved my Mozzarella Classic at Classic Burger Joint

The burger was extremely good. The fried mozzarella was melted at perfection, the beef patty of good quality and great taste and the little sauce added very light and enjoyable.

The fries were alright, nothing special, even though the person I was sharing the lunch with told me that usually they are very tasty and much better than what we got.

The coleslaw portion was too tiny to feel the taste of it.

The meal is enough to satisfy a very hungry person, so refrain from ordering too many things together. Enjoy the amazing burger first and then you might decide to add something else. At least, this is my advise 🙂

Restaurant Review: Jones the Grocer – Sheik Zayed Road – Dubai

I have been to Jones the Grocer many times in the past, especially on Fridays to have a late breakfast with the friends. The place is easy to reach, since it is located on a service road of Sheik Zayed Road and offers a good variety of food. From the traditional eggs, to more elaborated main courses like pasta, burgers, steaks or sandwiches.

I like the traditional English breakfast or the eggs Florentine (with smoked salmon and spinach) and the bread basket, because Jones’ bread is really good.

The last time I enjoyed a breakfast at Jones was several months ago, since we have tried many other restaurants during the good season, mainly offering outdoor seating.

As usual we had to wait in order to get a table. I never found Jones without a long waiting list on a Friday. However, we were lucky since we had to wait just for 15 minutes this time.

I ordered a wagyu beef burger with truffle brie, the bread basket with dips and a black coffee with a chocolate croissant. My partner got a special vegetarian dish and one of my friend some eggs Florentine, the others just coffee. The bread and the drinks came quickly and they were good.

Burger at Jones the Grocer by AndreaDetto

The wagyu burger with truffle brie and fries at Jones the Grocer used to be much better

My burger, that I have asked medium-rare, was actually well done and the beef used wasn’t wagyu at all. The burger quality was really worse than I remembered (and I took that burger several times in the past) with the burger patty tough and not really tasty and/or juicy.

My partner enjoyed the vegetarian meal and her smoothie, while the other friend had to wait 20 additional minutes to receive its eggs. Yes 20 minutes. We had the time to eat our meal, finish the drinks and he was still waiting for its eggs.

Definitely disappointing.

I hope it was just a bad day for the team in the kitchen, because Jones has always provided a different level of service and quality of food.
